The exhibition features works by 7 FTN co-ordinators alongside photographs and books by 19 artists, selected from an open call. Many of these works reflect on what is meant by family in the aftermath of the global pandemic. Consequently, haunting stories of absence, trauma, and loss are interwoven with notions of cultural identity, feminist revisions of personal histories and the celebrations and challenges of modern family life. Recent work “Portrait of a Woman” is included. It marks a period of ongoing research into photographic archives funded by ACE. The project re-imagines invisible female relatives through images originally taken by my grandfather, a photographer in Spain from 1909 -1948.
