dc.description.abstract

In its simplest and most perfect form, publishing creates a space for connecting with other people ideas. It allows us to shape our thoughts, practices, and experimentations into something that might matter to others, yet all too often it is perceived as being difficult, mysterious, and within reach of only a few. The goal of this chapter, therefore, is to demystify publishing and show that it is within everyone reach. We hope that illuminating the reasons for publishing, the importance of identifying the audience we want to publish for, and the rules and mechanisms that govern the publishing world will encourage our readers to break through whatever barriers they experience in relation to writing for publication and to feel inspired to put their ideas out there.
